NICARAGUA OUTREACHES 2009 - World Impact Teams

Short-Term Missions with a Long-Term Impact!

When: July 8 - July 17, 2009 or July 15 - July 24, 2009

Cost: $675 plus airfare

Who: Anyone with a heart to share the love and power of Jesus Christ!

Contact: Call our office at 502-243-4050 to sign up.

God is doing great things in Nicaragua! We are seeing many lives changed through our World Impact Teams.

Last summer we had the privilege of presenting the gospel to several thousand people and the joy of seeing hundreds of people receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Our medical clinics also had great success - we were able to provide treatment to a great number of people. Many of these precious people would not have received care if it were not for our team and some may not have lived without the tretment we were able to provide.

Our construction crews worked hard on the "Orphanage Project" in Sandino. They began work on the Comedor and did many other things to advance the project.

On top of all that we are seeing happen in Nicaragua, we are also seeing wonderful things happen in the hearts and lives of our team members. We have many people who have a deep burden from God to continue to go and help our Foursquare brothers and sisters in Christ reach their nation.

What a privilege it is to be a part of God's work in Nicaragua. We need more people to come and help. Will you answer the call to "GO"?

LIFE GROUPS are at the heart of the life and ministry of New Song Christian Fellowship Louisville. We encourage everyone to find a group so that they can grow in the Lord and in fellowship and friendship with others.THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A LIFE GROUP:A CLOSE FAMILY - The outward working of our relationship with Christ is much akin to that of a family. This small "family of God" is expressing itself through close intimate realtional ties with one another that the Bible describes as "The Body of Christ."LIVING THE WORD - James says to "be doers of the word". Life Groups offer a perfect atmosphere for individuals to discuss the Word and work out the implications of it in their lives.SHARING LIFE'S TESTIMONY - The sharing of our personal victories is a powerful sermon that anyone can preach. Testimonies build faith and encourage members of groups to further growth and prayer.PASTORAL CARE - The Life Group Leader of these groups can do most of the Pastoral Care. In addition, there are Area Leaders who can give spiritual guidance when necessary to shepherd the flock of God effectively.ENCOURAGEMENT - Life Groups provide the opportunity to bear one another's burdens and through the release of spiritual gifts, we edify and equip the saints.SERVICE - People released into ministry are the tangible fruit of effective body life. Therefore, Life Group members are able to serve one another and be released into the work of the ministry.FRIENDSHIP EVANGELISM - The very nature of small group ministry provides an excellent opportunity for unbelievers and the un-churched to witness the life of Christ being modeled by believers in a non-threatening atmosphere.DISCIPLESHIP - Discipleship of new and young believers can take place naturally when saints of different backgrounds and levels of maturity meet corporately and individually to share their experiences with one another.SPIRITUAL GROWTH - The dynamics of Life Groups lends itself to the accelerated growth of individuals in their spiritual walk as they are stretched and challenged to live out their faith.LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT - Life Group Leaders are given the opportunity to prove themselves to be faithful and develop their leadership skills while at the same time have the opportunity to mentor other potential leaders within the group.

A New Way, A New Day!

This is our prophetic theme for the year 2008. Those words hold a lot of promise and significance for those who will embrace them with a humble and teachable attitude. God is always doing something new in the earth. Some of His new doings are really not new to Him, but may well be quite new to us. He has a desire deeply rooted in His heart for each of His children to grow and become like His Son, Jesus Christ(Romans 8:29). In order for this to occur, it probably means that we are going to need to embrace some new habits, disciplines or perspectives along the way. Someone once said, "To do the same old things over and over and hope for different results is the definition of insanity!" I believe that says it pretty well. For you and I to grow in Christlikeness there are two keys- One, we must be willing to stop doing some of the old things that have become familiar to us, and Two, we must be willing to do some new things that God would show us in our walk with Him. Are you willing to go to a new place in your walk with God? Are you hungry for something different and fresh in your faith? Then let go of the things of the past that have held you back, and reach out to God for the new things He will show you this year! This is going to be a great year at New Song Louisville as we together embrace God's new ways for us- won't you join us?

Walking in God's New Ways,

Pastor Jeff Lamont

What We Believe - What We Believe

As a part of The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, we ascribe to the following statement of beliefs:

The Bible– We believe the Bible is God-inspired and is our ultimate authority (2 Tim. 3:16-17).

The Eternal Godhead– We believe God is triune: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 13:14).

The Fall of Man– We believe that man was created in the image of God but by voluntary disobedience fell from perfection (Rom. 5:12).

The Plan of Salvation– We believe that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us, signing the pardon of all who believe on Him (John 3:16, Rom. 5:8).

Salvation through Grace- We believe that we have no righteousness and must come to God by receiving the righteousness of Christ (Eph. 2:8).

Repentance and Acceptance– We believe that upon sincere repentance and a wholehearted acceptance of Christ, we are justified before God (I John 1:9).

The New Birth– We believe that the change that takes place in the heart and life at conversion is both real and discernible (2 Cor. 5:17, Gal. 2:20).

Daily Christian Life– We believe that it is the will of God that we be sanctified daily, growing constantly in faith (Heb. 6:1).

Water Baptism and the Lord’s Supper– We believe that baptism by immersion is an outward sign of the inward work of regeneration (Mt. 28:19). We believe in the commemoration of Christ’s death through the partaking of bread and the juice of the vine, representing His body and blood offered for our salvation.

The Baptism with the Holy Spirit– We believe that the baptism with the Holy Spirit is given to supply the believer with power to be Christ’s witness in the world (Acts 2:4).

The Spirit-Filled Life– We believe that it is the will of God that we walk by the power and the leading of the Holy Spirit daily (Gal. 5:22).

The Gifts and Fruit of the Spirit– We believe that the Holy Spirit has gifts to bestow upon the Christian and that we should show spiritual fruit as evidence of a Spirit-filled life (I Cor. 12:1-11, Gal. 5:22).

Moderation– We believe that the experience and daily walk of the believer should never lead to extremes or fanaticisms (Phil. 4:5).

Divine Healing– We believe that divine healing is the power of Christ to heal the sick in answer to the prayer of faith (James 5:14-16).

Church Relationship– We believe that it is the responsibility of believers to identify themselves with a local expression of Christ’s church (Acts 16:5, Heb. 10:25).

Civil Government– We believe that governing authorities should be upheld at all times except in things opposed to the will of God (Rom. 13:1-5).

The Final Judgment– We believe that all shall stand before God to be judged and there receive eternal life or death (2 Cor. 5:10).

Heaven– We believe that heaven is the glorious eternal home of born-again believers (John 14:1-3, Rev. 7:15-17).

Hell– We believe that hell is the place of eternal torment and separation from God for all who reject Christ as the Savior (Rev. 20:10-15).

Evangelism– We believe that leading people to saving faith in Jesus Christ is the most important responsibility of the church (James 5:20).

Tithes and Offerings– We believe that the method ordained by God for the support of His ministry is by the giving of tithes and freewill offerings (Mal. 3:10, 2 Cor. 9:7).

New Song Christian Fellowship is a community of people who share a common love for and commitment to Jesus Christ. Our mission is to passionately express the love of Jesus Christ to others through our fourfold vision:

REACH UP TO GOD through celebrative and victorious PRAISE, intimate and passionate WORSHIP and fervent PRAYER. Our desire is to seek God's face to know Him for who He is and for what He desires to do in us and through us. Acts 2:42-47

REACH IN TO ONE ANOTHER through caring and committed RELATIONSHIPS - equipping and releasing members of the body to become mature and effective disciples of Christ (making world changers).

REACH OUT TO THE WORLD through strategic local and WORLD EVANGELISM through the preaching of God's Word with power that we would make disciples of all nations according to the Great Commission (making a changed world). Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 25:46-47

REACH FORWARD TO THE FUTURE living by "PROPHETIC ASSIGNMENT" through the vision He reveals, the grace He supplies, and the hope He assures that we would discover God's perfect will in every season of our lives.

New Song Christian Fellowship- Louisville began in 1993 in response to a dream and vision placed in the hearts of Pastor Jeff and Tracy Lamont. They envisioned a Biblically-balanced, contemporary, Spirit-filled fellowship that would touch the city of Louisville and the world with the good news of Jesus Christ's love and power. The church was originally named New Horizons Christian Fellowship and recently changed to New Song Christian Fellowship Louisville as a part of joining the newly formed New Song Network of churches.

Pastor Jeff served as an associate pastor for seven years at a large evangelical church prior to being sent out as a church planter with the Foursquare movement. New Song Christian Fellowship Louisville is in relationship with Pastor Dale Evrist and New Song Christian Fellowship Cool Springs in the Nashville, Tennessee area.

I am so happy to be able to introduce you to a worship project that will strengthen your walk with God and fill your heart with great joy! As the pastor of New Song Louisville, I have longed to see our worship team record a project for everyone to enjoy. Our team is made up of gifted worship leaders who have a heart to passionately pursue God. They are not just gifted worship leaders; they are the "lead worshippers" in our fellowship. Every Sunday, I am blessed to worship along with this group of men and women who live out what they sing and play about.

The title of our project is "Proclaim." In God's Word, we are encouraged to proclaim many things. God's justice, His promises, His Words, the Kingdom of God, the God News and His praises! I hope this project encourages you to become a proclaimer of all these things to a world that is desperately in need of hope! May God fill your heart with His Spirit as you listen!

Passionately Pursuing God,

Pastors Jeff and Tracy Lamont

MISSIONS / EVANGELISM - MISSIONS / EVANGELISM

Biblical and Strategic FoundationGod has a global, historic, eternal and unchanging purpose to redeem a family of glad worshippers from every tribe, language, people and nation on earth (Rev. 5:9, 7:9). God has entrusted to the Church the privilege of partnering with Him in the completion of this purpose (Matt. 28:18-20). History will not conclude until the task of establishing the Church among every ethnic group is completed (Matt. 24:14). Although great needs exist throughout the earth, in order to complete the Great Commission, special attention must be given to those completely lacking access to the good news of Christ's love and power. The large majority of these unreached people groups live in the 10/40 Window. To maximize strategic impact, the local church's limited resources must be focused and prioritized, then enhanced through strategic partnerships, with the goal of establishing culturally-relevant church planting movements. Missions versus EvangelismThe classic definition of Missions is any ministry or evangelistic outreach that is done cross-culturally. Evangelism, on the other hand, is ministry or outreach that is carried on within the same language and culture. To further define the missions task, missiologists have created a well-known tool, called the E-Scale, to measure the cultural distance between the Christian witness and the unbeliever. E-0 and E-1 occur within the same culture as the evangelist and therefore should be referred to as Evangelism. E-2 and E-3 are cross-cultural by definition and therefore should be referred to as Missions. Obviously the church should be actively involved is the entire scale of evangelism, E-0 to E-3. Geographical versus Cultural Distance Missions is no longer defined by "crossing salt water." Old categories spoke of "Foreign Missions" and "Home Missions." These categories are no longer valid in the 21st Century. Missions (cross-cultural ministry) can occur in our own neighborhood and Evangelism (same-culture ministry) can occur in a cosmopolitan city on the other side of the globe. With the massive migration of peoples the world over, the distinction is no longer geographical distance, but cultural distance. For example, befriending and sharing Christ with my Japanese neighbor or Kurdish refugees in Louisville or Iranian students enrolled in University of Louisville all constitute "Missions." The other culture has come to my home city. On the other hand, if I went as a "missionary" to Hong Kong and served in an International church ministering only to fellow Americans and Europeans, I would be doing "Evangelism," rather than "Missions." This is because I would be working within my own language and culture, even though physically located in another country. This understanding is critically important to the mission task. In His divine plan, God has sent the peoples of the world to our doorstep to speed up and facilitate the completing of the Great Commission. It is important that we do "Missions" right here at home. On the other hand we need to understand that just because a ministry work is overseas, it does not necessarily fulfill the "mission task." Both Evangelism and Missions are equally important wherever they occur in the earth. Understanding the difference between the two enables relevant and strategic policy and decisions. Availability versus NeedAnother important distinction to understand is the difference between availability of the Gospel and need for the Gospel. All people groups and individuals within them have an equal need for the gospel. White suburban Louisville residents need the gospel as much as a Tibetan villager high in the Himalayan Mountains. However, not all people groups and individuals within them have equal availability of the gospel. The Louisville resident can choose from numerous churches, radio and TV programs, and Christian books and films on a daily basis. The Tibetan villager will likely live and die without ever hearing the gospel once in a way he can understand. In his case, there are no Christians or missionaries for hundreds of miles, no Christian radio or TV or books or films in his language accessible to him, and probably very little, if any, Scripture translated into his language or dialect. How is he to hear and respond to Christ? "How shall they believe in Him whom they have not heard?" (Romans 10:14)In order to complete Christ's Great Commission, priority must be placed on making the gospel available to those who are still lacking access to the Good News. As the apostle Paul affirmed, "I aspired to preach the gospel where Christ was not already named." (Romans 15:20-21) Regular versus Frontier MissionsAll mission work is important, but not all mission work is equally strategic. Twenty centuries of Christian mission have resulted in the Church being established on every continent and in every political country on earth. Around the middle of the 20th century, the Church began to relax a bit thinking its mission task on earth was practically done. It wasn't until the mid-1970's that this assumption was recognized as errant. The mission task had been assessed geographically rather than culturally, making invisible huge cultural blocks lacking access to the gospel. Upon recognition that Jesus' commission to take the gospel to every "nation" was a cultural challenge (Greek word is "ethos" meaning "ethnic group") rather than a geopolitical one, the mission task was reassessed, revealing that half the world's population had little or no access to the gospel. These ethno-linguistic groups were termed "unreached people groups" and a clarion call went out to reach them. The last quarter of the 20th century saw an immense global effort to redirect some resources from saturated mission fields and mobilize massive new resources to make the gospel available to these unreached people groups. On the brink of the 21st century, the world's population can be roughly divided into thirds. One third of earth's people call themselves Christians. One third are non-Christians living in reached people groups. The last third are non-Christians living in unreached people groups. An "unreached people group" is defined as "a people group within which there is not a sufficient community of indigenous Christians able to evangelize their own people without requiring outside assistance."For evangelistic purposes, a "people group" is "the largest group within which the gospel can spread as a church planting movement without encountering barriers of understanding or acceptance." At the turn of the millennium, there are roughly 24,000 people groups on earth; approximately 10,000 of these are unreached, containing a total of 1.2 to 1.4 billion individuals who have not yet heard the gospel. Most of these unreached people groups are in the Muslim, Tribal, Hindu or Buddhist religious blocks and live in the area of the world known as the "10/40 Window."Regular Mission is cross-cultural Christian work that spreads the gospel within people groups where churches have already been established (reached people groups). Frontier Mission is cross-cultural Christian work that seeks to establish churches within people groups where it does not yet exist (unreached people groups). Because Frontier Mission is essential to complete the Great Commission, it is important that these distinctions be understood.
